Onesie Update

Yeah...there was no saving this one.
I tried using the sewing machine and the damn thing chewed it up!
Thankfully, this project was only 50-cents,
but it hurt much more than ruining something I paid a lot for.

Oh well... on to the next one.

Another thing, I've been wanting to post outfit pics up
but I've been a little apprehensive on showing the belly. You see, it's shy.

I can also share that I've done little thrifting for myself lately, since I'm not sure of the fit
the following week--literally.

So whatever I have purchased has been comprised of men's sweaters; stuff my boyfriend (I still call him my boyfriend BTW--it keeps me young) and grandpa would wear. Oh, and pants with elastic waistbands (Yes, old-fashion granny pants) which I'm sure are not welcome here on Haute Thrift.

So yes, I'm doing the world a public service by not posting that stuff on here.
If anyone is still following...
what are you thinking?

Kidding, I wish I could hug you.. and no, I'm not being emotional.

Oh Boy!

Hello folks!

Did you know that being creative for a baby girl is sooooooooooo much easier than for a boy?
(FYI, it's a boy.)

Now I know.

We found early that we should "plan for a boy." But, I was too busy being in denial that I was thinking of things to make for a girl. I mean, can't you just photoshop the ultrasound to make me happy?
Guess they can't; who knew?

Blah.

Seriously, I'm not all disappointment. I'll be spending so much less since all those pretty dresses have now been barred from my universe...and so much more on dresses for ME! he, he... kidding.

So when the need to create something crosses a Pinterest perusal, a whole plethora of options come up!

This being my first little project.  I've bought a bunch of onesies and decided to personalize them in some way. Here's my progress....

That's it. I bought the onsies. So much for progress...
I lie. I got a little further.

My kid is going to be the bomb.com
Well kind of, this hand embroidery thing is too much work. And looks a little messy. I have to try it on the machine. Stay tuned.

Maternization

Like I mentioned, my clothes are shrinking.
I have only myself to blame...obviously for not knowing how to use a dryer properly.

At this point, any pants/shorts with a button or zipper fly are my nemesis. I've managed to use the rubber band trick but I'm afraid that rubber band will snap...
and that's gonna hurt so I decided to make some preggie pants from a pair of black pants that would have otherwise been donated in hopeless abandonment.

Rather than buying elastic, which in a size that wide is rather expensive, I thrifted a turtleneck
made of 98% spandex; $1!!!
You can use a stretchy camisole or any other stretchy fabric that will hold your pants up.

I got ahead of my phone-cam and cut the zipper off, as you can see.
 They fit!
And... now there's proof my butt and hips are competing with the bump.

Haute Nesss-t

So I've kept the cat in the bag for a little too long and here's why.
Yep, I'm about 4-months pregnant. This probably sums up why I've stopped blogging.
I've a new-found appreciation for laziness.

Aside from the new job and getting married, this is has taken it's toll.
I won't lie: the first few months haven't been bad--
I can count my morning sickness episodes on one hand...
...but I can't help feeling like I've been hit by a train almost daily.
I'm just getting my energy back.

Anyway, if any of you have been pregnant, it's kind of hard to shop for decent (and durable) stuff that will fit throughout this entire process. I'm trying to avoid buying stuff at this stage because I'm not really showing but my clothes are shrinking, folks!

(I think my rear is getting jealous of my impending bump
but the hubbers says it's in my head--he loves me so he lies).
Soooo I thought of creating the "Haute Bump" files.
Thrifted finds, Materni-sing current stuff and other Preggie ideas I have.
Aside from shopping wherever I'm traveling to.

I'll kick this off tomorrow with my first post.
:)

Yo!

Jeez Louise, it's been a million years since I've blogged and I have to tell you that I have/have not missed it. I think I fell into a creative hole and haven't since touched my sewing 'macheen' or my camera.

Why?

Oh, I have a real good excuse.

I'm lazy. And I have lots to share.

I start a new job this Friday which requires lots o' travel.
Plus.... I've gotten engaged and hitched all within the same month!
Crazy is my middle name, guys.

Sorry for the neglect. I'm not promising continuous posts like before; especially with all the traveling I expect to do but I will post nonetheless.

You know...thrifting will be a new adventure now that I'll be able to find stores across the US. That's probably what you'll see more of. I hope you enjoy it. If not, please tell me so.

And most importantly, THANKS  to my friends and subscribers who, despite my absence, have sent me some love. It really does mean a lot.

XO
